Muscle Tendon Rehabilitation
Veldhoven & Waalre
Our physiotherapists have years of experience treating muscle and tendon complaints and also have unique resources in our practices to properly diagnose and treat these injuries.
To effectively treat tendon and muscle complaints, you naturally need not only extensive experience but also the tools to provide optimal treatment.
More information
You can achieve a lot with exercise programs and behavioral and postural changes. Almost all recovery programs work with them. Sometimes in combination with massage or dry needling, but usually that’s not even necessary. However, for a large number of chronic pain complaints, exercises alone don’t help. Areas may be inflamed or tendons and bursae may calcify. But cramps or muscle knots can also be so persistent that even medication, injections, or deep-tissue massage don’t help. In these cases, shockwave therapy often offers a solution.
For a calcified shoulder, shockwave therapy helps relieve pain and increase shoulder mobility. By “crushing” the calcium, the pain is reduced and you can focus on your recovery. For chronic inflammation, such as golfer’s elbow, it helps reduce the inflammation, which both reduces pain and improves mobility. The same applies to problems with the tendons in the knee and heel.
The method is highly targeted: using small, high-energy sound waves, we “loosen” the area where the problem lies. This is very precise: that single tendon, that single attachment point. The shock wave sends a packet of energy across the painful area in your body. During a treatment, you receive approximately three thousand shocks in just over ten minutes. These energy waves loosen the calcified or adhered areas.
Shockwave therapy helps restore your body’s self-healing capacity by stimulating your metabolism and improving blood circulation. Because you can move more easily immediately, you can start your exercise program sooner.

To support the diagnosis after examination, it’s ideal to also examine a patient with ultrasound equipment. This often allows you to visualize the cause of a complaint even more clearly. This ultrasound examination can be performed by our physiotherapist, or by our radiologist, Dr. Carli, at the request of the general practitioner or specialist.
After recovering from a complaint or injury, it’s crucial to retrain the affected muscle groups. We don’t perform this specialized rehabilitation on traditional strength machines, but on the latest electronic training equipment: eGYM. This equipment can be used by people who have recently had a knee replacement or a hip replacement, as well as those recovering from chemotherapy or heart surgery. If you’d like to learn more about eGYM, please contact us.
